Retro-Future Cartography: Ishpeming
Think about your hero
When you're at Ground Zero
And crawl out through the fallout back to me
The city of Ishpeming was a small town in Michigan‘s Upper Peninsula¸ notable for the National Ski Hall of Fame¸ a mining museum¸ and the statue of "Old Ish." As the world ended¸ it's citizens fled to the old mines to ride out the apocalypse. When the dust settled¸ the survivors returned to the surface. Once they reestablished their lives the city went to work as a metal manufacturer. They quickly outstripped their neighbors in weapons¸ armor¸ and technology to become the thriving city they are today.
