Requiem: A Sentient Magic Item (5e)
In the First Divine War¸ when gods still walked the earth with mortals and even the elves were young¸ Lathlander and Kelevmor battled over the plains of Ur. The battle was fierce and raged through many days and many nights¸ and on the fourth dawn as Lathlander struck down Kelemvor to the depths of Strife¸ his blood was scattered across the plains¸ burning and withering everything it touched until it was a barren wasteland of ash¸ wind¸ and withered trees - the Scarland. The blood ran through the rivers and streams¸ and the beasts that drank it became monstrous and fierce¸ ripping halfling and orcs alike to shreds as they ravaged the land. So in desperation¸ a small group of fierce warriors drank the blood themselves¸ so that they might have the strength to defend the land. Some perished instantly¸ others were unable to control the dark power they had consumed and became as the beasts they had sought to defeat¸ but those who survived learned to harness their power and began to slay the monsters that ravaged the land. These warriors became known as the Blood Hunters. Though their strength was mighty and their will fierce¸ monsters lurked among the wastes whom they could not destroy with mortal steel. Once more¸ they gathered what blood still soaked the land and began to forge a blade... Requiem is a sentient magic item for 5e that feeds off of its bearer's pain. Within this supplement¸ you can find not only Requiem itself¸ but also a description of its appearance¸ personality¸ and a complete history of both the weapon and the Blood Hunters that forged it. Enjoy!
