Monastic Tradition: Dungeons and Dragons (5e)
Across the many worlds of Dungeons & Dragons ¸ there are extraordinary warriors who use their fists and feet in place of swords and shields. Each of these Monks chooses to to adhere to a Monastic Tradition¸ an approach to martial combat that offers great abilities. Two such Monastic Traditions are described in this supplement: the Way of the Cosmic Scale and the Way of the Kindred Spirit. Monks of the Way of the Cosmic Scale are believers in balance in all things¸ especially between the Planes. Extraplanar creatures upset this cosmic balance when they enter the Material Plane. Whether it be a destructive demon invasion commanded by Yeenoghu or an overzealous Deva bringing undue boons to a village¸ monks of this Tradition are meant to preserve the cosmic balance between good and evil; neither can gain too much power over the other. Monks of the Way of the Kindred Spirit see certain creatures as models for martial prowess. Ki is a powerful energy that connects us all¸ and certain creatures have an innate understanding of that connection. Monks of this Monastic Tradition choose to emulate that understanding and channel the Ki of animal spirits through their own.
