Forts & Frontiers: The Feast of the Dead (Free RPG Day 2019) (5e)
A Wendat sachem and his trading party escort a Jesuit priest from Trois-Rivières to their remote village on the shores of Lake Karegnondi. They do this to maintain favorable trading conditions with the French¸ but many of the Wendat resent their presence and¸ especially¸ their impact on tradition. Together they face the perils of Wendake-from wild rivers to hungry predators to a darkness nearly as old as Ataensic herself. Along the way the Wendat and priest find they have more in common than they thought¸ but will this be enough to stay the wrath of those who believe that the French have changed the old ways forever? Forts & Frontiers is a historical roleplaying game based on Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (5e). It allows GMs and players to experience 17th and 18th century North America from the diverse and often conflicting perspectives of the people of the time: British¸ French¸ and other European settlers; Wendat¸ Haudenosaunee¸ and other Nadouek nations; those striving to create new ways of life; and those striving to preserve the existing ways. This adventure is set in 17th century Wendake (modern-day Ontario). It is a quickstart introduction to the key concepts and new rules of Forts & Frontiers. As such¸ it goes into much more detail than subsequent adventures will. This is done to provide GMs new to the system and setting a clear idea of how to run a Forts & Frontiers adventure. Forts & Frontiers is about exploration¸ not expertise. We are by no means experts on the period. You don't need to be either. In fact¸ everything you need to know can be found in this adventure. An explanation of new rules¸ pre-generated characters complete with backstories¸ historical background¸ maps and illustrations¸ and much more-it's all here. So¸ prepare to go back in time for the adventure of a lifetime as two cultures collide against the breathtaking backdrop of 17th century Wendake.
