Orange Hack (d20)
These rules assume a basic familiarity with traditional RPGs. There is a GM¸ each player plays a single character¸ roll dice to attempt actions¸ etc. A debt of gratitude is owed to the granddaddy of all RPGs¸ as well as its various rules-light hacks¸ most especially Black Hack and Microlite20.
Orange Hack:
- Uses a 3-stat system (STR¸ DEX¸ INT)
- Contains 6 classes with their own abilities and spell lists (where applicable)
- Uses d20 plus bonus against AC for combat
- Uses roll under stat for skill checks
- Uses the advantage/disadvantage system
- Manges inventory using usage dice
- Has no XP tracking¸ all leveling is session-based
- Is simple in structure¸ with the rules primarily based on the items and spells themselves
- Embraces GM fiat and on-the-fly rulings
