A nightmare in porcelain (d20)
Strange things are happening in the remote woodland village of Highwolde. Weird¸ wild magics are corrupting both animals and plantlife in the forest. The villagers sought the aid of Meryndrax¸ a wizard who lives on top of a nearby hill¸ but those who enter his mansion are never seen again.
A nightmare in porcelain is a horror-themed adventure for three to five first-level characters that can be used as a precursor for the Unfamiliar campaign or as a stand-alone adventure on which you can base a homebrew campaign. It can easily be adapted to any existing campaign setting.
This module combines elements of classic¸ gothic horror with modern scare tactics¸ taking a fresh approach to the haunted mansion trope. Its focus lies more on role-playing and immersion than hack & slash and it's chock-full of handy tips for inexperienced and veteran DMs alike who want to set an appropriate atmosphere.
