100 Notes and Letters to Find in the Monarchies of Mau (d20)
haracters will often encounter pieces of paper when searching places¸ or even corpses. Often¸ these may be important¸ but important writings shouldn't be the only ones they find. There will be other jottings that people will have written or received. Here are 100 simple notes and letters¸ threats¸ orders and warnings¸ signs of wrongdoing¸ proof of conspiracies or the ravings of madmen that can be used to disguise what's truly important and to make a setting come to life. Some are quite short and others are longer. These notes are tied to the Urth setting¸ and could be found in or about a particular location.
Although none are intended to have any meaning beyond being a distraction that appears important¸ the Guide can¸ of course¸ decide whether any of these do have any meaning. These could be used as adventure hooks¸ or as ways of getting characters to visit certain locations.

- I'd ban most of the visiting cats unless they could first prove they were worthy of being allowed in the library. Many of them simply don't treat books with the proper respect; bending pages¸ leaving them open¸ putting them back in the wrong places. It's really annoying.
- I'm frozen! When I leave House Siberia's lands¸ I'm never going to return. I'm going to stay somewhere warm instead. How do they cope with the temperatures?
- I'm sick of the stench that tannery sends into the air. What cat thought it would be a good idea having such a vile business within the city's walls?
- I'm sure the ministers are lying¸ or at least hiding the truth in some manner. I don't believe they have a better handle on the souls of cats than any other cat does. But why would they do this? Have they an ulterior motive for it? This is something that needs looking into further.
- I'm the last. All the others have fallen to the coatl and I can hear it hunting me now. We were never enough to stop this beast.
